Shelbourne Double Chance (Win or Draw)

Reason for tip

Shelbourne have avoided defeat in six of their last nine home league games. Meanwhile, Shamrock Rovers, who have scored just three goals in their last five away league games and failed to score in three, have failed to win eight of their last ten away games in all competitions.

Draw 1-1

Reason for tip

A 1-1 draw is forecast for correct score bets as Shelbourne have averaged 1.3 goals per home game and 1.0 goals against since they last faced Shamrock Rovers at Tolka Park while the visitors have not conceded more than once in their last 13 away Premier Division contests.

Shelbourne vs Shamrock Rovers Predictions

  • Shelbourne have avoided defeat in six of their last nine home league games.
  • Shamrock Rovers have failed to win eight of their last ten away games in all competitions.
  • Shamrock Rovers have scored just three goals in their last five away league games and failed to score in three.

Reds can capitalise on Rovers’ recent wobble

Shamrock Rovers’ wobble could continue on Thursday against a Shelbourne side riding on a high following their FI Cup quarter-final win at the weekend.

The League of Ireland champions lost their last-eight tie to Derry City in extra time after going down to ten men against their main title rivals. Stephen Bradley’s men have hit a sticky patch in their season that could let the Candystripes in for a surprising domestic double, dropping points in three of their last five league fixtures.

One of those games was a 1-0 defeat away to the same Bohemians side that Shelbourne overcame 3-0 on Sunday – so Damien Duff’s side will fancy their chances of causing an upset at Tolka Park. The Reds have been solid at home in the last couple of months, winning five and drawing two of their last nine.

Duff has hosts moving in the right direction

All of their home matches against the current top three in the table have been close affairs – as far as the final scoreline goes. Shelbourne drew 1-1 and 0-0 with Dundalk, lost 1-0 to Derry City and 2-1 to Shamrock Rovers when their guests needed an 89th-minute winner to claim all three points.

When set against Rovers’ record of winning just two of their last ten away Premier Division games, the 8/11 match price on the visitors seems unappealing and it should surely be opposed here with a double chance bet on Shelbourne. Duff took a bit of time to find his feet as a number one at Tolka Park, but recent results show he is getting through to the third-youngest squad in the league.

A 1-1 draw is forecast for correct score bets as Shelbourne have averaged 1.3 goals per home game and 1.0 goals against since they last faced Shamrock Rovers at Tolka Park while the visitors have not conceded more than once in their last 13 away Premier Division contests.
