Sporting Lisbon to Win and Over 2.5 Match Goals

Reason for tip

Sporting will be smarting from their 4-3 defeat to Porto in the Super Cup earlier this month and have since won all three league games. Ruben Amorim’s side have scored 14 goals and conceded just two in those matches and can repeat the success they had against Porto last term when they took four points in clashes with the Dragons.

Sporting Lisbon 3-1

Reason for tip

Sporting are scoring for fun at the moment and can grab three against a decent Porto side that have not been truly tested yet this term. The visitors are worth a goal but may struggle to win the game in the Alvalade.

Sporting Lisbon vs FC Porto Predictions

  • Porto beat Sporting 4-3 in the Super Cup earlier this month and have since won all three league games
  • Sporting have scored 14 goals and conceded just two in their subsequent three games
  • Viktor Gyokeres has bagged six goals in his last three league appearances and scored three times against Porto last season

Early-season clash could be a classic

Saturday’s top-of-the-table tussle between Sporting Club and Porto may have come to early in the campaign to be hugely significant, but it still has the capacity to be unforgettable.

The Lions and Dragons meet at a time when both have three wins in three League games and just a few weeks after Porto won the Super Cup, in an epic comeback to beat Sporting 4-3.

Vitor Bruno’s side have not conceded a goal since they went 3-0 down to Sporting that day and will be hell-bent on keeping another clean sheet at Estadio Alvalade.

Dragons have lost some big characters

The Dragons have lost a couple of big dressing room figures from last season, as well as the coach that led them to three titles in seven seasons at the helm – Sergio Conceicao.

And, although their progress has been serene thus far, this is te sort of match for cool heads and experience, which they now lack in central defence and the striker positions.

Sporting are going to be desperate to avenge that Super Cup defeat and have the artillery to make this a bad night for Porto. Viktor Gyokeres has got six goals in his three league games while Trincao and Marcus Edwards have been providing plenty fo chances.

Back Sporting to come through this test with a few goals in the game too and a 3-1 scoreline may be of the order their fans will demand.
