Both Teams To Score

Reason for tip

Moreirense have started the new season brilliantly, winning four times in five Primeira Liga fixtures, failing to score only once along the way. Each of Sporting’s last four games in all competitions have featured goals at both ends and Moreirense can be the latest side to trade blows with the Lions.

Sporting Lisbon 2-1

Reason for tip

Sporting have gone four games in all competitions without keeping a clean sheet and could concede again on Monday. Moreirense lost their last away game 2-0 however, and could eventually be outgunned in Lisbon.

Sporting Lisbon vs Moreirense Predictions

  • Each of Sporting’s last four games in all competitions have featured goals at both ends.
  • Moreirense have failed to score in only one of their first five league assignments of the new campaign.
  • Sporting have won five of their six fixtures in all competitions this season.

Moreirense can be competitive in the capital

Moreirense have been keeping pace with FC Porto and Sporting near the summit of the Primeira Liga table in the early throes of the new campaign in Portugal, thanks to a return of four wins from five assignments and have the tools to be competitive again on Monday.

Head Coach Vasco Botelho da Costa, who only turned 36 in March, was appointed by Moreirense in the summer and has been impressing in the dugout since, masterminding wins over former club Alverca (2-1), Santa Clara (1-0), Vitoria (2-0) and Rio Ave (3-1) so far.

Already tipped to be the next Portuguese coaching prodigy, Costa has been squeezing excellent performances out of Brazilian striker Guilherme Schettine, whose four goals so far have already put him within reach of last season’s total tally (five), while right-back Dinis Pinto has chipped in with four assists.

A fixture away at Sporting on Monday will be Costa and Moreirense’s stiffest test so far, however, they are playing with enough confidence to probe at a Sporting defence that has conceded in each of its last four games.

Indeed, each of Sporting’s last four matches in all competitions have featured goals at both ends and the same market can be backed at better than evens here.

Alongside BTTS, we’re tipping Sporting’s class to eventually tell however, with a 2-1 home win entered for our correct score prediction. Moreirense conceded twice at Gil Vicente in their last away game, suffering their first and only defeat of the campaign in the process and they might come unstuck against a high-calibre opponent again on Monday.
