Stuttgart narrowly avoided relegation from the Bundesliga last season, and the start of this season indicated that nothing had improved during the summer break.

They began their season with five straight defeats in the Bundesliga, leaving them bottom of the table and in desperate need of some points.

They finally got their win when they beat Hannover, but they only won one of their four following Bundesliga games.

They did manage to progress in the DFP Pokal in midweek though, with a 2-0 win over Carl Zeiss Jena giving them a much needed confidence boost.

But the problem lies in that they still sit in the relegation zone of the Bundesliga, with their seven points leaving them in 16^th position in the table.

Darmstadt are enjoying a much more successful start to their season, with the newly promoted side picking up 13 points from their opening ten Bundesliga games to leave them in 12^th position.

But they have started to run into a few problems in recent weeks. They have only won one of their last four Bundesliga games, with two of those ending in defeat.

But they also enjoyed success in the DFP Pokal in midweek, with their 2-1 victory over fellow Bundesliga side Hannover seeing them progress in the cup.

This should be a fairly close match on Sunday, but the home and away records offer some valuable information.

Stuttgart have lost four of their five home matches this season, with their only victory coming in a 1-0 win over Ingolstadt.

Darmstadt, on the other hand, are unbeaten on the road since the end of last season. Their eight point haul from their four away days in the Bundesliga leaves them with the 6^th best away record in the league, and they have games in hand over all the teams above them. Not to mention that these have included matches against Schalke, Bayer Leverkusen, and Borussia Dortmund.

This makes odds of 5/4 for a Darmstadt Win or Draw Double Chance look incredibly good value, and along with that I’m also putting some money on a 2-1 Darmstadt win at 16/1.
