Sweden vs Slovenia Predictions
- Sweden have scored just once across their last four games.
- Slovenia have failed to net in each of their last four matches.
- Under 2.5 goals would have been a winning bet in three of Sweden’s last four fixtures.
- There have been less than three goals scored in three Slovenia matches on the spin.
Goals a problem for struggling pair
Slovenia may sit a place and two points above Sweden heading into the final round of action in qualifying Group B, but while they are already out of contention to qualify for the World Cup, their hosts do have a play-off to look forward to in March by virtue of their performance in last season’s UEFA Nations League.
Goals have been a problem for both teams in this group, as since playing out a 2-2 draw on the opening matchday in September, they have scored just one goal between them in a combined eight qualifying games.
It is somewhat surprising that both teams have struggled for goals given the attacking talent within their respective squads. Sweden may be without Viktor Gyokeres, but still boast the likes of Alexander Isak and Anthony Elanga in their ranks, while Andraz Sporar is in double figures for goals for Slovenia.
Potter seeking improvement
The only goal either side have scored since the opening matchday came for Sweden in their 4-1 loss to group leaders Switzerland on Saturday.
That was Graham Potter’s first match in charge and although it ended in a heavy defeat, there were reasons for the Swedes to feel positive.
Potter, who enjoyed previous success in Sweden during his time with Ostersunds, will hope a first home match in charge will bring about a maiden victory, and the Swedes are capable of nicking a result, although it is unlikely to be a high-scoring affair.
