Tottenham Hotspur vs Southampton Betting Tips & Predictions

Tottenham Hotspur’s Premier League title challenge came to an end on Monday night as they let a two goal lead slip through their fingers to draw 2-2 with Chelsea. This left Leicester seven points clear of Spurs at the top of the table, sealing the title for the underdogs and sending the football world into overdrive.

A 2nd place finish for Spurs would be considered a great achievement in the majority of seasons, but the story of Leicester has overshadowed their impressive season. Now Spurs have to get over their disappointment and fend off Arsenal’s challenge for the runners up spot. Their North London rivals are only three points behind them.

The 2-2 draw at Chelsea was their 2nd draw in a row after their failure to win at home to West Brom the Monday before. Their unbeaten streak extends to six matches, but only half of those have ended in victory.

Southampton have returned to top form themselves as they go on the hunt for Europa League qualification. They come into this match in 7th position, and they’re just three points adrift of Manchester United in 5th. Liverpool are still within a win of the Saints though, and the Anfield outfit have a game in hand as well so Southampton really need good results from their remaining two matches.

There is no reason why they shouldn’t give Spurs a run for their money. They have won their last two matches by scorelines of 4-2, including against Manchester City last weekend, and have won five of their last seven outings in the Premier League.

The visitors have only lost one of their last eight matches in the Premier League and Spurs have only managed to win two of their last five home matches in all competitions. Add to this their deflation after Monday’s failure and I think Southampton have an excellent chance of getting a result. Odds of 4/5 for a Southampton Win or Draw Double Chance look excellent value to me, and I’m going for that as well as a 1-1 correct score prediction at 6/1.
