Crunch clash in Verona

The importance of Saturday’s clash at Stadio Marcantonio Bentegodi cannot be underplayed with hosts Verona and visitors Udinese both going into the game just one point clear of the bottom three.

I Gialloblu moved level with the Little Zebras on 28 points after Monday night’s 2-2 draw at Atalanta, but they were fortunate to take anything from the clash at Gewiss Stadium. The home side cut them to ribbons in the first half and appeared to take their foot off the gas when 2-0 up, but they created enough chances to win the contest after Marco Baroni’s men had drawn level with two goals in quick succession.

Verona have been very hard to trust this season and allowed leads to slip in their previous two games, which makes them very uneasy favourites in this fixture.

Both teams to score looks the best bet

Udinese have collected 16 of their 28 points on the road this term and arrive with recent wins at Juventus and Lazio on their record.

Earlier this month, Gabriele Cioffi’s team asked a few questions of Inter Milan at home and it took a 95th-minute goal for the Scudetto favourites to clinch all three points. Udinese’s game against Roma was abandoned at the weekend with the score 1-1 due to Evan Ndicka’s collapse, but the trend of both teams scoring could well continue here.

Both teams have scored in four of Udinese’s last five completed Serie A matches and Verona’s last four too.
