Villarreal desperate to bounce back

A 3-0 battering at the hands of Barcelona last weekend was a huge set-back for Villarreal after a run of just two defeats in their opening nine La Liga outings.

It was also seventh time in 16 fixtures in all competitions that there have been three or more goals, four of which have come in just six outings at La Ceramica.

Unai Emery’s side have already netted seven times in three home league matches, where they remain unbeaten this season, picking up five wins and a draw.

Can Almeria make it two in a row?

Almeria pulled off a thoroughly impressive – and important – victory last week when they beat Girona 3-2, their fourth game in a row to contain at least three goals.

Rubi’s side have been pretty dismal on the road though, failing to win in five outings and conceding ten goals in the process, netting just twice in response.

They also have a terrible H2H record against Villarreal, losing their most recent clash 8-0 in the 2018/19 Copa del Rey, and failing to win any of the last ten meetings.
