    West Brom

      Tip Reasoning

Watford had a tough opening day fixture for a newly promoted side when they made the trip to Merseyside to face Everton away from home.

They were impressive as well despite the tough first match. They twice led against Everton, and it was only thanks to a late goal from Arouna Kone that Everton managed to come away with a point.

Watford showed their away day tactics against Everton, letting the home side dominate possession but putting together quick attacks when they got the opportunity.

However, at home against a lower quality side they may try to control the ball and work their way through the shaky West Brom defence.

They will have to do so without Joel Ekstrand and Lloyd Doyley though, who will both miss out through injury. West Brom are missing Ben Foster and Gareth McAuley for the trip.

Even if West Brom were at full strength, I highly doubt they would have been able to stop Manchester City mauling them on Monday.

Yaya Toure was back to his brilliant best for this match, scoring twice before captain Vincent Kompany added a 3rd in their 3-0 victory at the Hawthorns.

Admittedly, a home match against Manchester City is a difficult way to open the season, but they failed to show any belief during the game and really didn’t look like they’re ready for the season yet.

They have just broken their transfer record with the signing of Salomon Rondon though, and his powerful presence up front will hopefully give a new dimension to their attacking play, as well as giving someone for Berahino to feed off.

He has only signed this week though, so will take a while to settle in with his new team. I think Watford looked good last weekend, and odds of 5/4 for a home win look very appealing to me.
