Tip Reasoning

  • West Brom have lost only one of the last seven meetings with Blackburn (Won 4, Drawn 2).
  • West Brom have won six of their last ten Championship home games.
  • Blackburn have lost three of their last five Championship contests.

Blackburn face testing time amid winter wobble

Blackburn Rovers’ promotion credentials are being given a real examination at the moment and we can’t be sure they come through Monday night’s televised encounter with West Brom without suffering another bump in the road.

Tony Mowbray’s men have lost three of their last five Championship contests, including back-to-back defeats at Swansea and at home to Nottingham Forest within the past week. Captain Darragh Lenihan was sent off in midweek to further exacerbate their problems ahead of a tough run of games ahead.

He will be suspended for this trip to the Hawthorns, where Rovers have lost on two of their last three visits. Albion are always tough to beat on their own patch and have only lost once in 14 games there this term, so this will be a tough ask for Blackburn.

Bruce brought in to change defensive mindset

The odds-on quote for the Baggies may seem a little short, but the recent drop-off in Blackburn’s form is worrying and the hosts are still likely to have some new manager bounce after the recent appointment of Steve Bruce. He couldn’t work his magic to get them anything at in-form Sheffield United on Wednesday, but they will be fired up for this home game for sure.

The Lancashire club have failed to score in four of their last five league games, albeit a couple of those were played without Ben Brereton-Diaz, but Rovers’ top scorer does appear to be off the boil at the moment. A WBA win to nil must have good chance of landing in this given Albion have kept six home clean sheets in their last nine.

Although West Brom have only scored multiple home goals in three of their last ten attempts, a 2-0 correct score forecast is preferred because Bruce has been brought in to the alter the defensive approach of predecessor Valerian Ismael in a bid to reignite the Baggies’ playoff hopes.
