West Ham United vs Huddersfield Predictions

West Ham’s frustratingly inconsistent period of form continued last weekend as they fell to a 2-0 defeat at the hands of relegation candidates Cardiff, a result which made it two wins, two draws, and four defeats in their last eight Premier League games.

However, with all four of these losses coming away from home, the London Stadium faithful will be confident of getting a result on Saturday, especially as they come up against a Huddersfield side who look devoid of any sort of confidence.

The Terriers may not be mathematically relegated just yet, but given their current form, they may as well be. A 2-0 loss to Bournemouth last weekend keeps them rock bottom of the Premier League table, some 16 points adrift of safety and showing no signs of mounting a late fightback.

Of course, they did manage to clinch a surprising win at home to Wolves at the end of February, but that remains their only competitive victory since the end of November. They have won one, drawn one, and lost 16 of their 18 matches since then.

Without a doubt, it’s quite frankly their shocking attacking play that’s caused this failure. They have scored just 15 league goals all season, and their last nine matches have seen them score just twice. Somehow, things get even worse away from home. They haven’t found the net on the road since Boxing Day in the league, failing to score in each of their five games since.

Admittedly, West Ham aren’t the best side at the back, but they have had some success this season. At home they are unbeaten in five Premier League matches and have kept two clean sheets, and it’s this home form that has put them well in the race for the potential Europa League qualification spot of 7th. A win on Saturday while Wolves and Watford are preoccupied with the FA Cup would leave them within touching distance.

We’re expecting a win for the Hammers here, and after their 2-0 shutout against Newcastle earlier this month we also think they can keep the goal-shy Terriers out at the other end of the pitch. We’re backing West Ham to Win to Nil along with a 2-0 correct score prediction.
