Nothing is certain

Remarkably, no club in Group G is assured of progression into the next round just yet, and it’s set up perfectly for a fascinating encounter in Germany. Wolfsburg comes into this one sitting bottom of the group and will end the night either in the UCL last 16 for the first time since 2015/16 or eliminated from Europe altogether. Only a win here will see them avoid the latter scenario, meaning they will want a quick start here against French Champions Lille.

Similarly, a victory for the French side here would see them progress into the knockout stages for the first time in 15 years. However, a draw could suffice for Jocelyn Gourvennec’s side and given the poor form of Wolfsburg, they’ll be disappointed if they leave the Volkswagen arena empty-handed. Lille are unbeaten in their last seven but have conceded in six of those so we should be in for an exciting match.
