Early bird World Cup 2026 group stage tips + 940/1 acca

Sports Journalist at FST, Gareth qualified as a journalist after graduating from university and spent over a decade as a freelance broadcast journalist, commentator and tipster before joining FST. Now living in Manchester, he is a long suffering Bolton Wanderers fan who also enjoys boxing, the NBA, tennis and rugby league.

The groups for World Cup 2026 have now been confirmed after the conclusion of the last of the qualifying play-offs.

Bosnia, Sweden, Turkiye, the Czech Republic and Iraq secured their spots earlier this week and now I’ve taken an early look at the group stage markets.

Squads are yet to be announced and there is also a good chance that key injuries could impact the betting markets as the tournament draws closer, but here is an ‘early bird’ pick from each batch of four, including winners and qualifiers, that forms a huge 940/1 accumulator.

World Cup 2026 Group State Predictions & Tips

Back Our 940/1 Accumulator Here

World Cup 2026 Group A

Mexico, South Africa, South Korea, Czech Republic

Best Bet: Mexico to win the group at 1/1

Group A looks like a competitive batch of four and all of these teams will feel qualification is achievable, given that eight of the 12 third placed teams will reach the first knockout stage.

Home advantage gives Mexico an obvious edge in terms for the fight to finish top and they’ve also probably got the strongest squad of this quartet, at evens they look good value to win the group.

World Cup 2026 Group B

Switzerland, Canada, Bosnia, Qatar

Best Bet: Canada to win the group at 5/2

Switzerland are the clear favourites to top Group B but another host nation could pip the Swiss to first place.

Canada have what has to be their best ever squad for their home World Cup with Jonathan David, Ismaël Koné and Alphonso Davies among their options.

Davies has struggled with injuries this season but is expected to have recovered in time for this summer’s showpiece. If the Canucks are at full strength they can give Switzerland a run for their money.

World Cup 2026 Group C

Brazil, Morocco, Scotland, Haiti

Best Bet: Scotland to qualify at 2/7

Brazil are the 1/6 favourites to win this group so the better value play is backing Scotland to qualify at 2/7.

The Scots have never progressed beyond the first round but they’ve also never been to a World Cup where third could be enough to make it out.

Haiti are the minnows in this batch of four and a big win over the team ranked at 83 by FIFA might be enough for Scotland to sneak into the next round, and it isn’t beyond the realms of possibility that they get something out of the meetings with Morocco or even Brazil after competitive wins over the likes of Denmark, Croatia and Poland over the last couple of years.

World Cup 2026 Group D

USA, Turkiye, Paraguay, Australia

Best Bet: Turkiye to win at 7/4

Group D is another competitive quartet, and European play-off qualifiers Turkiye may be able to top the pile.

The Turks have hit some form with five wins in their last six games and they managed to beat the USA in a friendly on American soil last year.

The Stars and Stripes have underwhelmed in their own preparations so far. They should be able to qualify but top spot might be too much of an ask.

World Cup 2026 Group E

Germany, Ecuador, Ivory Coast, Curacao

Best Bet: Germany top Ecuador second (forecast) at 11/10

Germany may not be quite the force they were in years gone by but they should still top Group E after being handed what looks a favourable draw.

South American national Ecuador stand out to take second spot. They’ve proven to be an incredibly effective unit in recent years and they can finish ahead of Ivory Coast and debutants Curacao/.

World Cup 2026 Group F

Netherlands, Japan, Sweden, Tunisia

Best Bet: Tunisia to qualify at 11/10

This World Cup will be played in some hot conditions and that means a few African sides may fare better than many expect.

In any case, Tunisia have a decent squad and should be able to compete in this batch of four regardless. Finishing ahead of the Netherlands looks a big ask but they may be able to edge out Japan, Sweden or both.

World Cup 2026 Group H

Spain, Uruguay, Saudi Arabia, Cape Verde

Best Bet: Spain to win at 1/5

I’ve skipped over Group G due to the presence of Iran in that quartet. Fifa president Gianni Infantino insists they will be involved but there has to be a question mark over that so we’ll go straight into Group H and Spain look head and shoulders above their three rivals. Uruguay are the obvious threat but the pre-tournament favourites could easily come through this group with maximum points and are backable even at a short price.

World Cup 2026 Group I

France, Senegal, Norway, Iraq

Best Bet: France to win at 2/5

Group I should be a straightforward battle between France and Norway. The Norwegians are reliant on a few stars, whereas France are strong in all areas and like Spain they should top this group relatively comfortably.

World Cup 2026 Group J

Argentina, Austria, Algeria, Jordan

Best Bet: Argentina to win at 1/3

Argentina are the defending champions and they should have little trouble in finishing at the top of this particular pile.

World Cup 2026 Group K

Portugal, Colombia, DR Congo, Uzbekistan

Best Bet: Portugal to win at 2/5

Portugal and Colombia are the two sides who should be battling for supremacy in Group K and again the favourites look the far better option. The Portuguese look to be hitting some form after drawing with Mexico and beating the USA away in friendly games, they can make a strong start by topping their group this summer.

World Cup 2026 Group L

England, Croatia, Ghana, Panama

Best Bet: Panama to qualify at 7/4

England and Croatia should take the top two spots, but minnows Panama may be able to spring a surprise and finish ahead of Ghana – and that might be enough to reach the next round.

Panama benefit from a bit of home advantage here to a degree and they are in decent form, beating South Africa in Cape Town earlier this month.

Ghana have lost their last four games and looked like a disjointed outfit in their 5-1 hammering in Austria last month, Los Canaleros might be able to take advantage.
