League Two 2026/27 relegation predictions

Ahead of the new League Two season, Aaron Ashley has selected two 11/2 shots who could end up in the fourth division’s relegation spots come May.
League Two relegation predictions
Tranmere to be relegated at 11/2
With only two places up for grabs, pinpointing the relegated pair from League Two is always a tricky betting heat, but that doesn’t mean that there isn’t value to be had.
Newport were 5-2 favourites for the drop in League Two last season but a late resurgence under Christian Fuchs guided them to survival, with 7-1 shots Barrow finishing bottom of the pile and 10-3 chances Harrogate joining them in the National League.
Those that come up tend to fare well in League Two, so York and Rochdale will be looking up rather than down, and Newport will be expected to endure another season of struggle with Fuchs having subsequently resigned.
However, there are reasons to believe that Tranmere could be dragged into the relegation mix after finishing 21st last season, just two points above the bottom two.
Rovers lost 25 of their 46 outings in League Two last term and they had Andy Crosby and Pete Wild – on a short-term basis – as managers during that campaign.
Another new boss has taken over at Prenton Park in Darrell Clarke but he has a big recruitment drive on his hands after 12 departed over the summer and he was sacked by Bristol Rovers in December last season following a run of ten straight league defeats.
This is currently a small squad short on quality and there is little to suggest that big improvement will be incoming.
Shrewsbury to be relegated at 11/2
Along with Newport, Crawley and Accrington may also be relegation candidates, but Shrewsbury have plenty to prove too after last season’s 19th-placed finish.
The Shrews picked up following the January arrival of manager Gavin Cowan but they were the second-lowest scorers in the division with only 42 goals in 46 outings and the Town boss has admitted that the club must balance the books before strengthening sufficiently.
Shrewsbury were placed under a transfer fee restriction by the EFL over a late payment for a loan agreement so are unable to buy players for the rest of the summer transfer window, relying on free agents and loanees.
