The Double kicked off in Germany where Eintracht Frankfurt took the lead in the 34th minute through Hinteregger, which wasn’t the best of starts for us as we went with Mainz here. However, our luck turned in the 44th minute when the visitors went a man down. Mainz took advantage of that in the 2nd half and leveled the scored in the 50th minute through Onisiwo. After that they continued pushing for another goal and they finally got it in the 69th minute through Szalai. No more goals were scored in this one and we were halfway through to landing our Double!
It was a dramatic 2nd leg of the double, to say the least. Solihull Moors were up 2:0 after just 8 minutes against Rotherham. To make matters even worse, they extended the lead to 3:0 in the 62nd minute, almost all hope of landing the double was lost at that point. But, a miracle comeback took place in the final 15 minutes of this one! The visitors grabbed two quick goals in the 76th and 79th minute and were right back in it. Rotherham’s forward Michael Smith took the stage then and scored twice, in the 88th and 91st minute, to overturn a 3:0 deficit into a 4:3 victory for the visitors and we could start celebrating yet another accumulator winner!!
