Before becoming a Sports Journalist for Free Super Tips, Aaron spent three years studying Sports Journalism at the University of Sunderland while taking in the Black Cats' 'glory years' under Martin O'Neill. Now back in Northern Ireland he turns niche stats into predictions for FST, while he's one of the few people on this island who is equally comfortable at Windsor Park and the Aviva.
While both Norway and France have guaranteed their place in the last 32, this clash in Boston is a battle for top spot. That should guarantee the showdown we all want to see, with Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe set to go head-to-head at a major tournament for the first time.
We’ve backed a thriller when these superstar forwards cross paths in our Norway vs France predictions, and I’m expecting strong showings for both strikers in this 51/1 Ultimate Bet Builder.
Norway vs France Ultimate Bet Builder
Kylian Mbappe 3+ shots on target
Mbappe has scored a brace in each of his two games at the World Cup so far, putting himself in the mix for the Golden Boot and leaving him only two shy of Lionel Messi’s record 18 career goals at the tournament.
Mbappe has recorded at least three shots on target in both matches, which includes scoring from range in each game, something we don’t see all that often from him in club football.
Norway conceded four shots on target against Senegal, and they gave up 11 shots to a poor Iraq side. There’s little Norway can do to stop the Real Madrid man from getting chances, so back him to have another three efforts on target.
Erling Haaland 3+ shots on target
Haaland has also scored twice in each of his first two games at the tournament, and he too has recorded at least three shots on target in his opening two matches.
The French limited chances against them in their opening two matches, but there are question marks around their midfield. Norway have plenty of threats from out wide, both in Antonio Nusa and their two full-backs, Marcus Pedersen and David Moller Wolfe. With Martin Odegaard pulling the strings in midfield, they can feed Haaland a few more chances.
Adrien Rabiot to be carded
If France have a weakness, it’s Rabiot’s presence in their midfield. He’s serviceable, but this is far from the 2018 World Cup-winning partnership of N’Golo Kante and Paul Pogba.
Rabiot has made three fouls through two games, and he was booked twice at Euro 2024. The midfielder picked up cautions against Azerbaijan and Spain in 2025, and he finished with four bookings with AC Milan last season.
