Who to Bench

Toby Alderweireld

The Tottenham Hotspur defender in the highest scoring defender in the league at the moment, but they’re travelling to face Manchester City at the Etihad. City get a lot of goals on home turf, so I’m not expecting any clean sheet points for the Spurs back line.

Gylfi Sigurdsson

The Swansea attacking midfielder is in fine form at the moment, but their faltering attack is coming up against a Southampton side who haven’t conceded in five matches thanks to the heroics of Fraser Forster. I’m not expecting the Swans to get a goal on Saturday, so it’s best to bench Sigurdsson.

Who to Buy

Romelu Lukaku – Price: 8.8 Million

Everton’s top goalscorer and the point of their attacking trident picked up nine points as Everton beat Stoke 3-0 last weekend. He’s facing up against West Brom this weekend, who have struggled against League One opposition over the past month and come off the back of a gruelling midweek FA Cup replay that went to penalties. The visitors will be tired, and I’m expecting Everton to bag a fair few goals.

Ross Barkley – Price: 7.4 Million

Same as above. Barkley has picked up 19 points in his last two gameweeks, and the combination of him and Lukaku is at the forefront of everything good that Everton do.

Southampton Defenders

Southampton’s defensive form has hit it’s peak since Fraser Forster’s return. They haven’t conceded in five matches now and face a Swansea side who have struggled for goals this season. Picking up a Saints defender or two, or Forster, is bound to bring in some points this weekend.

West Ham Defenders

Slaven Bilic has drilled a solid defence into West Ham this season, and this weekend they face a Norwich side who have failed to score in four of their last six matches in all competitions. The Hammers host Sunderland next weekend as well.

Jesse Lingard – Price: 4.3 Million

The bargain Manchester United attacker is in excellent form at the moment, and his two goals on consecutive games have made him a genuine contender for a regular Manchester United starting position. They play against Sunderland on Saturday, one of the worst defences in the league, and Lingard could well bag a goal.

Enner Valencia – Price: 5.9 Million

With Vardy, Aguero, and Kane all facing tough opposition this week, maybe think about giving a game to Enner Valencia. The West Ham forward plays against a Norwich side who have conceded over three goals per game since the start of 2016, and Valencia has managed three goals in his last three games.
