Whoever comes out on top in this Sunday’s Manchester Derby will take with them a huge belief in finishing in the top four, we wouldn’t have said that a few years ago! While City haven’t been in their usual form mind, with defensive frailties sighted as the main concern for incoming Pep Guardiola, they have been back to scoring ways, and we expect them to at least finish in the Champions League places.

United on the other hand.. is anyone’s guess – where do they go from here?

After another humiliating defeat and an exit from the Europa League at the hands of their biggest rivals Liverpool, the last thing United fans would want is a trip to their noisy neighbours. Recent years have been pretty torrid for the red half of Manchester; they haven’t beaten City in 5 league attempts, with no sign of stopping the rot anytime soon.

Louis Van Gaal is on borrowed time it seems and United fans have been left once again feeling disillusioned after another lackluster performance in front of goal. We simply can’t see them turning up at the Etihad and getting one over their nearest rivals, especially with the clinical Aguero back in the starting line up and the notable absence of Rooney. Aguero has been a constant thorn in the side for United and we think he’ll get on the score sheet once again. He’s 10/11 to score anytime on Sunday with Betfair, looks a good bet!

12 of the last 13 games at the Etihad have resulted in >2.5 goals too, but we wouldn’t back against a score to nothing here.

If United do lose, which we expect them to, then they can really say goodbye to the top four. With a tough game coming up shortly after against the Hammers, United’s season could be good as over by April.
