New York Yankees vs Boston Red Sox Predictions
The New York Yankees are only a couple of wins away from booking their MLB postseason place, probably as the AL Wildcard with home field advantage, but they were stalled by their age-old rival Boston Red Sox on Monday night, losing 5-1 in the first game of the final set of games between the two teams.
On Tuesday night, New York owns the significant pitching match-up advantage with Michael Pineda going up against Rick Porcello. This could be their opportunity to take one more step towards at least one postseason game.
With Masahiro Tanaka currently sidelined, Pineda might just be in line to start that pivotal Wildcard game. He is unbeaten in five September starts and has thrown the ball well gradually recovering after a long spell on the D/L.
Pineda will hope New York’s offense breaks out after they managed three runs or less in five of six outings. They’ll have that task against Porcello, a pitcher who owns the MLB’s third worst ERA. He’s not got a great record at Yankee stadium and he’s struggled in each of his last two starts, losing them and giving up runs.
Three Reasons for Betting Tips
1. Pineda vs Porcello
We think Pineda has a massive advantage in this pitching match-up, Porcello needs to hit his spots and doesn’t do well at Yankee Stadium.
2. Red Sox erratic hitting
They’ve got a good hitting line-up, but can you trust them? Not really, we think they’ll struggle after a couple of solid outings where they scored some runs.
3. Good odds
We think the odds on the Game Total Over 8.0 are too good to miss out on when you have a Yankees’ offense that should break out, meanwhile, the Money Line is a nice safe bet coming in at above 50%.
