AaB vs Midtjylland Betting Tips & Predictions

AaB narrowly missed out on the top four in the Danish Superliga last season, and as such failed to qualify for continental competitions. It looks like this season could put them in a similar plight.

Their 2-1 defeat at home to the relegation threatened Esbjerg on Sunday made it three defeats in a row for the faltering AaB, a run of form which puts them back in 5th position with a two point deficit to make up on 4th placed Brondby. They now need to outdo the 4th place side in the final two games if they want to qualify for the Europa League.

A win on Thursday would put them three points adrift of Midtjylland as well, so it’s not entirely implausible that they can get a top three spot in the Superliga.

Midtjylland won’t be lying down for the hosts though. Last season’s champions have been outplayed by the recently confirmed new champions FC Copenhagen this season, and Midtjylland are now just trying to qualify for the Champions League.

They come into this game in 3rd position, three points adrift of the opportunity to play in the Champions League that Sonderjylland currently occupy.

The visitors are in good form though, and it’s likely that their poor form earlier in the season had something to do with their participation in the Europa League. They come into this game having won three games in a row and won five of their last seven. They have only lost one of their last nine in the Superliga too and they have taken all three points in three of their last four games on the road.

AaB, on the other hand, have lost four of their last five home matches, including defeats to two relegation candidates AGF and Esbjerg. This makes Midtjylland clear favourites in my eyes, but they are away from home so I’m backing a Midtjylland Draw No Bet at 5/6 along with a 2-0 correct score prediction at 14/1.
