Aberdeen vs Livingston Predictions
- Aberdeen have not kept a clean sheet in their last five matches
- Livingston have conceded in seven of their last nine games
- Livingston’s recent record against Aberdeen is just one win in 18 fixtures
Aberdeen Need A Win
Aberdeen have lost their last three matches, but each of those games have been against teams in the top five in the table, and this looks like the perfect opportunity for a return to form.
The real Achilles’ heel for Stephen Glass’ side has been their defending. They have only kept two clean sheets this season, against Dundee United in August and more recently in a 1-0 win over Hibs.
Indeed, both teams have scored in nine of their 14 SPL fixtures, but they have only conceded seven times at Pittodrie. They should be able to outscore Livingston, so keeping a clean sheet might not be necessary to win.
Livingston Fighting Against The Drop
David Martindale’s side are only three points above bottom of the table Ross County, but that is largely due to their home form. On the road, they have picked up nine points from eight matches.
Like Aberdeen, however, their defending is an issue. Livi have conceded eleven goals in those matches, while both teams have scored in four of their last five home and away matches.
They are without a win in four and given their dreadful record against Aberdeen, whom they have beaten just once since April 2004, does not provide much confidence that they will suddenly find that winning formula.
I predict that, true to form of each side, both teams will score in this one, but Aberdeen will shade it 2-1.
