Rayo Vallecano to Win

Reason for tip

Rayo have the Conference League final to think about but they can still guarantee European football for next season with a win at Alaves if other results go their way, and they look well placed to leave with maximum points. Alaves are now safe and have nothing to play for, while Rayo have five wins and no defeats in their last eight games and have three wins in the last four head-to-head meetings.

Rayo Vallecano 1-0

Reason for tip

Goals could be in short supply as there have been fewer than three goals scored in each of Alaves’ last three games and in Rayo’s last six. The visitors also have four clean sheets in their last six games so a 1-0 Rayo win has a chance.

Alaves vs Rayo Vallecano Predictions

  • Alaves are safe from relegation
  • Rayo can finish seventh and qualify for the Conference League
  • Rayo are unbeaten in eight across all competitions

Alaves unlikely to resist Rayo

Rayo Vallecano head to Alaves in the final round of La Liga fixtures on Saturday and the visitors are the only team with a target left to play for.

Rayo have the Conference League final to come next week and that might be a bit of a distraction, but if they can claim three points this weekend that would potentially be enough to guarantee European football next season even if they lose the final.

Alaves had been involved in the relegation battle but their 1-0 win at Oviedo last weekend guaranteed survival, so this is essentially a dead-rubber for the home side.

The hosts have been in good form with three wins and just one defeat in their last five games. However, they were scrapping for survival during that period and may ease off – and Rayo look well placed to take advantage.

Los Franjirrojos are also in fine form with five wins and no defeats in their last eight games across all competitions. They’ve also enjoyed the better results in head-to-head games with three wins in the last four meetings, and they can pick up maximum points here as they warm-up for their European final with Crystal Palace.

Goals could be in short supply as there have been fewer than three goals scored in each of Alaves’ last three games and in Rayo’s last six. The visitors also have four clean sheets in their last six games so a 1-0 win for the visitors is the correct score pick.
