Tip Reasoning

  • Poland have scored 17 goals in four games since the Euro 2020 Finals.
  • Poland beat Albania 4-1 in Warsaw last month.
  • Albania have scored in their last five internationals.

Sousa’s side scoring lots of goals

Poland are pushing England for the automatic qualification spot, but will actually start Tuesday’s game in Tirana a point behind second-placed Albania.

Paulo Sousa’s side can leapfrog their opponents with a win and arrive in good shape after their 5-0 smashing of San Marino on Saturday. Poland are the second-highest scorers in Uefa’s qualifying section with 24 goals so far, 17 of which have been produced in their last four outings.

They battered England – one of only four nations to have conceded two or fewer in qualifying to date –  in the closing stages of their recent home clash and thoroughly deserved the late equaliser. Sousa is tactically very nimble and, although his squad lacks depth in a couple of positions, his side appear to to have a strong spine and team spirit.

Poles must beware Broja brilliance

They will no doubt be tested by an Albanian squad that haven’t just fluked their way to second position. They have defenders with Serie A knowhow that give them a strong platform from which to build and a new superstar emerging up front in Armando Broja.

The Chelsea starlet capped a whirlwind ascent to the top with yet another winning goal in his country’s 1-0 win over Hungary last Saturday and will be hoping to start against the Poles. Poland have kept only two clean sheets in 12 matches this year – against Andorra and San Marino at home, so we feel justified in taking the tasty odds on offer for Sousa’s men to win with both teams on the scoresheet.

Broja’s form offers the Albanians hope of an upset, but we’re still backing the visitors to prove too strong over the course of the 90 minutes. A 2-1 correct score bet is recommended because while Poland have won their last six contests against Albania, five of those have been by a one-goal margin.
