America MG look to bounce back

Having gone five games without winning in all competitions – though two of those contests came in the Copa Libertadores – America Mineiro are looking to breathe new life into their hopes of building on 2021’s eighth-placed Serie A finish when they host lowly Cuiaba, and the visitors’ recent woes will surely give Vagner Mancini’s men hope of a home win.

Indeed, the visitors sit 17th in the 20-team division after losing four of their first eight Serie A games in 2022, failing to win any of their last five league contests. America have only scored nine goals in their eight outings this term – conceding the same number – so a tight affair does look likely, but they are unbeaten in their last three meetings with Cuiaba and have not conceded a single goal in those contests, so will be confident of sending their fans home happy.

Impotent Cuiaba unlikely to land a blow

Considering the visitors’ dire goalscoring record and America’s good home form, backing the hosts to win to nil, extending their fine record of clean sheets in head-to-head encounters between the teams, looks prudent.
