Managerial philosophies to make for exciting contest

Both Amiens and Auxerre will be looking to put together stronger promotion challenges this season and their respective managers have a clear way of going about things – attack!

Only one team outscored Auxerre in Ligue 2 last season and Jean-Marc Furlan’s side put more goals in the back of the net than either of the sides automatically promoted.

Amiens boss Phillipe Hinschberger left Grenoble in the summer after guiding them to fourth last term, cementing his reputation as an attacking coach with the brand of football they produced.

So a mouthwatering contest awaits on Saturday with a few goals likely given the evidence of  the two sides’ respective pre-season games.

Amiens were involved in a six-goal game and a seven-goal game against top-flight Belgian opposition while Auxerre enjoyed 4-0, 3-0 and 3-1 wins before running out of gas a bit in two high-scoring defeats.

All but one of the Diplomats’ friendlies featured four goals or more, which is why we like Over 3.5 goals for this opening weekend fixture.

As far as correct scores go this could be anyone’s guess but because Auxerre have lost their last two friendlies we are inclined to side with a 3-1 Amiens win.
