Anderlecht vs Manchester United Predictions, Betting Tips and Match Previews

Anderlecht’s cagey two legs against APOEL last month resulted in them making it through in the Europa League after beating the Cypriot side 1-0 in both legs, following on from their away goals win over Zenit after they finished 2nd in their Europa League group in December.

They have followed that continental success with a domestic victory against Zulte-Waragem and a draw at home to Gent on Sunday in the first two matches of the Belgian First Division championship round. This leaves them top of the table, leading Club Brugge by four points and looking to lift the trophy for the first time since 2014.

Manchester United will be a tough test for them in Europe though. They managed to beat the dreadful Sunderland 3-0 away from home on Sunday, bouncing back from consecutive draws against West Brom and Everton.

They are now unbeaten in five matches in all competitions, although they made very hard work of Rostov in the last round of the Europa League. They settled for a 1-1 draw away to the Russians and then only just beat them at Old Trafford.

Away from home Manchester United have won five of their last seven games in all competitions, but in Europe they have lost against Feyenoord and Fenerbahce this season and have only won two of their five away days in the Europa League.

Anderlecht have won all but one of their home games in the competition too and are currently unbeaten in ten home games in all competitions, keeping a clean sheet in eight of them and facing a Manchester United side who have struggled in front of goal recently.

I think Anderlecht will set up to keep themselves in the tie knowing that Manchester United are playing poorly at Old Trafford at the moment. Odds of 17/20 for an Anderlecht Win or Draw Double Chance look good value, so I’m backing that along with a 1-1 correct score predictions at 11/2.
