Arsenal vs Olympiakos Predictions
After a double of disappointing results a couple of weeks ago when they lost to Dinamo Zagreb and then Chelsea, it seems Arsenal have managed to pick themselves up.
They beat North London rivals Spurs in their midweek League Cup game and followed on from that with an emphatic 5-2 win over the unbeaten and in form Leicester on Saturday.
Alexis Sanchez helped his side out with a hat trick against Leicester, with Olivier Giroud and Theo Walcott also getting on the scoresheet to ease the pressure on Arsene Wenger’s issue up front.
This made it five wins from their first nine competitive games this season, with three losses and a draw making up the results.
This leaves them in a familiar 4th position in the Premier League, and their 2-1 loss to Dinamo Zagreb puts them in 3rd position in their Champions League group after the opening game.
Olympiakos also netted five goals at the weekend, with their 5-1 victory against PAS Giannina keeping them at the top of the Greek Super League table with a maximum of 15 points from their opening five games.
But they couldn’t transfer this form into the Champions League when they face the unenviable task of hosting Bayern Munich in their opening group match.
They lost 3-0 thanks to a brace from Thomas Muller either side of a Mario Gotze goal, putting them at the bottom of Group F.
These two sides have met each other on six occasions in the Champions League before Tuesday’s clash.
In every one of these matches the home side on the night has come away with the win. Also worth noting is the fact that both teams have scored in each of the last four meetings between the sides.
With this history, and the fact that both Olympiakos and Arsenal have conceded in each of their last four games, I think odds of 2/1 for an Arsenal Win and Both Teams to Score are excellent value.
