Aston Villa vs Liverpool Predictions
Aston Villa managed to put a halt to their downturn in form last weekend when they beat Norwich 2-0. This followed on from back to back defeats against Manchester City and West Ham, but overall their recent form is a vast improvement on the first half of the season.
They have won three, drawn three, and lost two of their last eight matches in all competitions, a run of form which has lit a small fire of hope among the previously distraught Aston Villa fans.
They still sit at the foot of the Premier League table, but they have managed to slash the gap between them and safety to eight points, and a win on Sunday could see them move to within a point of 19th placed Sunderland.
Liverpool went crashing out of the FA Cup on Monday as they were beaten with almost the last kick of extra time by West Ham in the 4th Round Replay.
This made it five matches without a win for Liverpool, with draws against West Ham and Sunderland joining defeats to West Ham, Stoke, and Leicester.
It doesn’t get much better when you look further back in Liverpool’s form books either. They have only won two of their last ten matches in all competitions.
This form has seen them slip to six points adrift of the Europa League qualification spot that Manchester United occupy, and a loss on Sunday could send them into the bottom half of the table.
It’s not been often that you can say that Aston Villa are the form side coming into a clash, but this is one of those times. They have much more momentum than the visitors and the fans are starting to be won around as well.
This makes odds of 19/20 for an Aston Villa Win or Draw Double Chance look good value for money, and a prediction of a 1-1 draw at 6/1 looks good as well.
