Aston Villa managed to put a halt to their downturn in form last weekend when they beat Norwich 2-0. This followed on from back to back defeats against Manchester City and West Ham, but overall their recent form is a vast improvement on the first half of the season.

They have won three, drawn three, and lost two of their last eight matches in all competitions, a run of form which has lit a small fire of hope among the previously distraught Aston Villa fans.

They still sit at the foot of the Premier League table, but they have managed to slash the gap between them and safety to eight points, and a win on Sunday could see them move to within a point of 19^th placed Sunderland.

This form has seen them slip to six points adrift of the Europa League qualification spot that Manchester United occupy, and a loss on Sunday could send them into the bottom half of the table.

It’s not been often that you can say that Aston Villa are the form side coming into a clash, but this is one of those times. They have much more momentum than the visitors and the fans are starting to be won around as well.
