Aston Villa vs Manchester City Predictions
Aston Villa started their season with an unconvincing win over Premier League new boys Bournemouth as new signing Rudy Gestede ensured they started the season with three points.
It hasn’t gone so well for them since then though. Gestede provides the only faint glimmer of hope when he plays, but ultimately Aston Villa have failed to show any determination in any of their ten matches since that win.
They have lost nine of these ten games, with a 2-2 draw to Sunderland being their only point from a possible 30.
This leaves them rock bottom of the Premier League table and enduring a seven match losing streak in the Premier League.
An unlikely win on Sunday could see them move as high as 18th in the table, but they’ll have to wait at least another week if they want to break free of the drop zone.
Manchester City are on another level entirely. They started the season with a series of emphatic wins, and despite suffering a bit of a dip in form they still lead the charge for the Premier League title.
They have lost three times in all competitions, with all of these defeats coming in a four match spell. Spurs, Juventus, and West Ham all dished out defeat to the challengers, but they have won 13 of their 14 other matches so far.
Their only draw came in the goalless Manchester derby. Despite this goalless draw they have still scored 25 goals in their last eight outings in all competitions.
This doesn’t make for good reading for Aston Villa fans. Manchester City are the highest scorers in the Premier League and come into this away match in excellent form and looking to open up a gap between themselves and 2nd placed Arsenal, who have a North London derby to contest.
I’m expecting goals from City, who have shown that they don’t just rely on Sergio Aguero and David Silva since their injuries. Odds of 11/10 for a Manchester City Win and Over 2.5 Goals look really good value as well, so I’m backing that along with a 4-0 win for them at 20/1.
