Aston Villa vs Swansea Predictions
Aston Villa looked a bit out of shape in the opening game of the season, but nevertheless managed to get a 1-0 win over the newly promoted Bournemouth. A win is a win.
They put in a decent, albeit unsuccessful shift against Manchester United in the next game, but since then large cracks have started to appear.
They haven’t won in the Premier League since the opening day of the season, and overall they have simply looked devoid of any form of attacking threat.
Their League Cup wins against Notts County and arch rivals Birmingham City have given them brief respite from defeat, but the fact they have lost seven of their last eight league games will be a real concern to the Villa fans and players alike.
This makes for a great opportunity for visitors Swansea to get back on track. The South Wales outfit looked very sharp in the opening few weeks of the season, drawing at Stamford Bridge before beating Newcastle and Manchester United either side of a draw against Sunderland.
It’s gone downhill since then though, and they are now on a run of five Premier League games without a win. Three of these have been defeats for Garry Monk’s side, making for a measly return of two points from a possible 15.
This has seen them drop down to 14th position in the league, with Aston Villa occupying a relegation position down in 19th.
Swansea have won their last three fixtures against Aston Villa and they haven’t lost at Villa Park since 2012. They also hold a clean bill of health, whereas the hosts will be without Gabby Agbonlahor and Gary Gardner.
This is certainly making me lean towards a Swansea win, but with them being out of form as well I think a Swansea Draw No Bet is a safer option at nicely priced odds of 8/11.
