Atletico Madrid to Win and Over 1.5 Match Goals
Reasoning
Atletico Madrid vs Celta Vigo Predictions
- Atletico have only lost two of their last 11 home matches
- Celta Vigo are on a run of just two wins in 11 away league fixtures
- 13 of Atleti’s last 18 games at the Wanda have included at least two goals
Can Atleti build on Champions League success?
A 2-1 win over Porto in the Champions League in midweek was much needed for Atletico Madrid, who have won two of their opening four La Liga fixtures.
Diego Simeone’s side have seen two or more goals in four of their five outings all competitions, while they have only themselves failed to score in their sole defeat, 2-0 at home to Villarreal.
Atleti are generally strong at the Wanda though, where they have only lost twice in 11 outings since mid-February, while also winning 10 of their most recent fifteen league games there.
Will Celta make it three in a row?
You have to go back to May 2021 for the last time Celta Vigo won three games in a row, but that is a run they are looking to emulate following victories over Girona and Cadiz.
This will be a much tougher test than those two outings though, particularly as they have lost on seven of their last 10 trips to the Wanda, with the other three fixtures ending as draws.
Indeed, Eduardo Coudet’s side have a fair few problems on the road, as they have managed just two victories in their last 11 away games, suffering six defeats in the process.
I predict that Atletico Madrid will win this game with two or more goals across the 90 minutes, with 2-0 to the hosts my correct score prediction.
