Yamal to star in Wembley thriller

Newly crowned world champions Spain have made it to each of the last three UEFA Nations League finals, and they can kick off the 2026/27 iteration with a win at Wembley.

La Roja were by far and away the most impressive side at the World Cup and head to London unbeaten in 90 minutes since March 2024, but their defence faces a tough test against an England side that have scored in nine of their last ten games.

Both teams have scored in their last six games and there have been goals at both ends in each of the last four meetings between these sides, so Saturday’s tie could be one for the neutrals.

Luis de la Fuente’s side look the most likely to claim the points, though. They have won by a 2-1 scoreline in two of their last three matches against England and they have not conceded more than one goal since November 2025, so another 2-1 win appeals.

Lamine Yamal could be the man to make the difference, too. The teenager had a relatively low-key World Cup campaign in terms of goals after starting the tournament injured, but he has scored eight goals in his last six games for Barcelona and has failed to find the net in just one of those ties.
