      Austria To Win To Nil

      Reason for tip

Austria are a level or two above Jordan, who are defensively sound, but lack the overall quality to have an impact of Das Team. Ralf Rangnick’s well-coached side can get their World Cup campaign off to the perfect start.

      Austria 1-0

      Reason for tip

Jordan will look to dig in and make it difficult for Austria to break them down, but Das Team are fancied to make the breakthrough, while keeping the Chivalrous Ones out at the other end.

      Marcel Sabitzer To Score Anytime

      Reason for tip

Marcel Sabitzer has scored in all of his last three appearances for Austria, the Dortmund man may be handed penalty-taking duties for Das Team and the 32-year-old look the best value first scorer option against Jordan.

      Austria vs Jordan Predictions

      • Austria have conceded only four goals in their last ten matches
      • Austria have scored 20 goals in their previous seven matches
      • Jordan haven’t won in five matches

Austria were beaten 2-1 by Turkey at the last-16 stage of Euro 2024, but that’s a misleading record for an excellent side.

Das Team were close to being the stars of the tournament in Germany two years ago, topping a group containing France, Netherlands and Poland, prior to a mighty unfortunate loss to the Crescent Stars.

There is plenty of quality in Ralf Rangnick’s squad, with Marcel Sabitzer and Marko Arnautovic bringing quality and experience and Konrad Laimer and Kevin Danso solidifying the back line, but it’s the clear identity and playing style which sets Austria apart.

Austria’s attack can beat the heat

Clearly, the heat in North America is a concern for Das Team’s high-tempo play, but Austria should avoid the worst of the California heat and they have a clear class edge on Jordan.

Jamal Sellami’s men only managed victories over low-level teams Palestine and Oman in the second round of qualifying and the Chivalrous Ones take a major step-up in grade.

A low block and defensive solidity will be the key to Jordan’s hopes, but those tactics may be difficult to pull off against an energetic and free-flowing Austrian side.

Das Team are fancied to win to nil at the Levi’s Stadium.
