Midtjylland vs Besiktas Predictions
- Midtjylland won all four of their home Europa League league phase games last season
- Midtjylland have just two defeats in their last 12 competitive games
- Besiktas lost two of their final four road games last season
Expect a response from Midtjylland
Midtjylland lost the first leg of their Europa League qualifying tie with Besiktas 1-0 in Turkey but they should be able to turn the tie around with home advantage.
The Danish side had a man sent off early on in the first leg and it became an exercise in damage limitation from that point on, and they should view a 1-0 loss as a positive result in the circumstances.
Midtjylland enjoyed a positive Europa League campaign last term as they finished in the top eight at the end of the league phase, losing out to Nottingham Forest in the last 16. Their home form was key to their strong league phase as they won all four of their games, beating Sturm Graz, Genk, Dinamo Zagreb and Celtic, and they can see off Besiktas.
The Turkish side failed to qualify for Europe last season as they fell short in both Europa League and Conference League qualifying. They have struggled on their travels in Europe in general with just one win in their last five away games going back to the 2024-25 season, so Midtjylland can make the most of their home advantage.
The Danes may be able to finish this tie off inside 90 minutes and a 2-0 home win is the correct score pick. Midtjylland hit eight goals across their four home league phase games last season and can keep a clean sheet, having limited Besiktas to just one goal despite their numerical disadvantage last week.
Valdemar Byskov Andreasen was the man sacrificed by Midtjylland in the first leg as he was substituted after their red card to facilitate a tactical change on 18 minutes, but he can play a key role in the return fixture. Andreasen had a goal and an assist at Sonderjyske in 45 minutes at the weekend and he can follow that up with a goal against Besiktas on Wednesday.
