Bastia vs Marseille Predictions, Betting Tips and Match Previews

Bastia’s 2-1 win at Rennes on Saturday made it back to back competitive victories for them for the first time since February after their 2-0 victory at home to Metz last weekend.

This new found winning spirit will be a welcome break to the players and fans alike after a dismal season so far. Prior to these wins they were winless in ten competitive matches and were really struggling in the Ligue 1 table.

However, they have now pulled themselves up to 13th in the table and have a four point cushion on the relegation zone. They will want a positive result against Marseille to take them into the winter break in high spirits.

Marseille are a drastically improved side compared to the win-shy team we saw last season. They managed to beat Lille 2-0 on Sunday to make it three wins on the bounce in the league, with their winning streak only interrupted by a penalty defeat to Sochaux in the Coupe de la Ligue.

In normal time they are unbeaten in five matches now and find themselves in 9th position in Ligue 1. There are only five points between them and the top four though, so if they can keep this run going they might be looking towards a return to European football.

This is a bit of a surprise given they lost their one shining star of last season in Michy Batshuayi. The cash strapped club replaced the young Belgian with Swansea reject Bafetimbi Gomis, and it’s paid off so far. The Frenchman has nine Ligue 1 goals so far this season and has scored in his last three league matches, so backing him to find the net at 15/8 looks a good choice for our anytime goalscorer predictions.

I do think this will be a tight game though. Marseille have seen both teams find the net in eight of their 11 away days this season and Bastia have in five of their last seven at home. This, along with both sides decent form going forward at the moment, makes odds of 1/1 for Both Teams to Score look a good choice. I’m also backing a 1-1 correct score predictions at 5/1.
