      Belgium to Win

      Reason for tip

Rudi Garcia’s team were unbeaten in qualifying and they have hit their stride ahead of the tournament. Belgium are unbeaten in 13 games in all competitions and they should have too much class for an Egypt side that will find the step up in class too much.

      Belgium 2-0

      Reason for tip

Egypt may have Mohamed Salah and Omar Marmoush in their ranks, but Belgium’s defence has been tough to penetrate. The Red Devils only conceded seven goals in qualifying, while they kept clean sheets against Croatia and Tunisia in their recent friendlies.

      Jeremy Doku To Score Anytime

      Reason for tip

Manchester City’s Jeremy Doku scored five goals for Belgium in qualifying and he is their main attacking weapon in the final third. He fired 27 shots in qualifying and he netted four goals in his last seven games for Manchester City.

      Belgium vs Egypt Predictions

      • Belgium are unbeaten in 13 games in all competitions
      • Rudi Garcia’s side only conceded seven goals during qualifying
      • Jeremy Doku ended the domestic campaign with four goals in seven appearances

Red Devils to showcase their potential

Belgium’s golden generation is now a thing of the past and only a few members of their star-studded squads remain ahead of their 2026 World Cup opener against Egypt.

For many tournaments, Belgium were always labelled the “dark horses”, but their best performance came in Russia in 2018, when they finished third.

It is fair to say Rudi Garcia’s side are not on many radars for title glory, but they will expect to top Group G ahead of Egypt, Iran and New Zealand.

Belgium avoided defeat in qualifying and are unbeaten in 13 matches ahead of this Group G opener and they have kept successive clean sheets against Croatia and Tunisia.

Egypt were also unbeaten in qualifying, but they barely had to break a sweat against Burkina Faso, Sierra Leone, Guinea-Bissau, Ethiopia and Djibouti.

While they have been competitive at the Africa Cup of Nations, Egypt have not progressed to the knockout stages since 1934. They often struggle against European nations and Garcia’s side should have too much class for them across the park.

Jeremy Doku will be the man to watch for Belgium, as he bids to maintain his recent form. He netted four times in seven appearances to end the domestic season for Manchester City and he is one of Belgium’s main attacking threats, having scored five goals in qualifying.
