Benfica vs Vitoria Setubal Predictions
Benfica claimed a narrow 2-1 win at Moreirense in their last league game and moved top of the table in the process, while Vitoria Setubal played out their fourth goalless draw in six matches when they played host to Portimonense.
All of the stats point towards a win and a clean sheet for Benfica on Saturday and we’re backing the hosts to secure a 2-0 victory against Vitoria Setubal’s mean defence.
Benfica are unbeaten in their last seven matches in all competitions against Vitoria Setubal and have won four of the pairs’ last six encounters. The hosts have kept four clean sheets in their last ten games against Vitoria Setubal and with the visitors struggling to score goals this season, we’re expecting another clean sheet for Benfica this weekend.
The form of both teams over the last month or so also strongly suggests that a home win is on the cards this weekend as Benfica have won four of their last six matches in all competitions and Vitoria Setubal have only won one of their last six in the Primeira Liga. Admitedly, Vitoria Setubal have proven tough to beat of late but that 4-0 defeat in Porto suggests that even their strong defence can’t handle the attack of the top teams in the division.
Both teams’ performances of late add weight to our prediction of a clean sheet for the hosts on Saturday, with Benfica keeping three clean sheets in their last six matches and Vitoria Setubal failing to score in five of their last six matches. We’re not expecting a goal fest from this match though as under 2.5 goals have been produced in three of Benfica’s and five of Vitoria Setubal’s last six matches, which explains why we have predicted a final score of 2-0.
We’re confident that Benfica will win to nil on Saturday and have predicted a final scoreline of 2-0. The hosts are the form favourites and the bookmakers’ expect them to win but to make decent money on this bet we’ve added the clean sheet into the mix. Setubal have struggled for goals this season and have failed to score in five of their last six matches, including their ill-fated 4-0 drubbing at Porto last month.
