Leicester City 2-1

Reason for tip

Birmingham have scored at least twice in four of their last six games at St Andrew’s but come up against a tougher defence here. The Foxes are in great form and can claim a 2-1 victory.

Birmingham vs Leicester City Predictions

  • Leicester have won eight of their ten away matches this season
  • The Foxes have scored at least twice in seven of their last nine road games
  • Birmingham have won just two of their ten matches under Wayne Rooney

Leicester set to continue promotion push

Wayne Rooney arrived at St Andrew’s to a big fanfare in October but the former Manchester United star has not had the galvanising effect the Birmingham hierarchy hoped for as they find themselves in their familiar station, two-thirds of the way down the Championship table.

They claimed only their second victory since his arrival when they won 1-0 at Cardiff on Wednesday and their only other success came at home to struggling Sheffield Wednesday, so a visit from highflying Leicester will show them on Monday just how far they have to go.

The Foxes look well placed to secure an immediate return to the Premier League and head across the Midlands having won their last three matches, so it would be a surprise if they did not leave with three points.

Blues can get on scoresheet

However, the visitors have conceded in seven of the eight away matches they have faced since their 1-0 win at Huddersfield in August, so it is worth backing Birmingham to find the net as Rooney will demand his team will not just sit back and invite Leicester to dominate the game.

Blues have scored at least twice in four of their last six league matches at St Andrew’s, so correct-score punters may look at a 2-1 away win as the visitors’ clash should eventually tell.
