Blackburn Rovers vs Wolves Predictions
Wolves sacked boss Walter Zenga this week, less than a third of the way into the season. The Italian’s reign in the West Midlands started relatively brightly and there have been some really good performances but they’ve been too inconsistent and a record of just 1 point from 5 games led to the club’s new Chinese owners deciding change was necessary.
Sam Allardyce has been installed as the favourite to replace him and although he would be something of a controversial choice given the way his short-lived England reign was brought to an end, there can be few men better equipped to end Wolves absence from the Premier League. It’d be a surprise if any appointment is made before this game though so they are likely to head to Ewood without a permanent boss and having lost 3 of their last 4 games on the road and 4 of their last 5 overall.
Given that, Blackburn might just be getting Wolves at a good time and will fancy they can win this. Rovers have made very clear improvements from the opening few weeks of the season and it is 14 matches now since they lost a game by more than 1 goal so they are clearly a competitive outfit. They were 2-1 winners in their most recent home game against Nottingham Forest and have been defending much better, conceding only 5 times in their last 5 home games, having let in 9 in their opening 3 matches at Ewood this term.
With all that has gone on at Wolves this week, it’s a bit of a surprise that they still come into this game as favourites. The dismissal of Zenga, will in the short-term only add to the uncertainty at the club that has seen big chances both on and off the pitch in recent months. They really need to make a solid appointment and find someone to come in and steady the ship but that may take time and with Blackburn improving, the hosts look like they could edge this. So consider backing Blackburn Draw No Bet at 11/10.
