Bolton vs Sunderland Predictions
- Bolton have lost one of their last eight home games
- Sunderland’s away league form is patchy at best, they have won two of their last eight
- Bolton have won their last two matches without conceding
January recruits have helped Bolton
Bolton were at risk of being dragged into a relegation battle, however, some early January acquisitions and some improved performances of late have eased those fears. The Trotters have won their last two games without conceding, a run which coincided with the signings of Aaron Morley, Dion Charles and Marlon Fossey who have all started in both of those games. Bolton have an impressive recent record at home. They have lost one of their last eight games on home soil and are fancied to go well on Saturday against The Black Cats.
Sunderland reliant on their home form
Sunderland’s stay in English football’s third tier looks set to come to an end this season. Their lofty league position is largely in thanks to their very impressive home record. They will be hoping to avoid the play-offs this season given the scarring they have suffered over the years. If they are to guarantee an automatic spot their away form needs to improve. Sunderland have only won two of their last eight away league games. Lee Johnson’s men have drawn four of these contests which tempers enthusiasm slightly for an outright wager on Bolton.
A large crowd is expected at the University of Bolton Stadium on Saturday, and I will chance the home faithful being able to spur their side on to victory. I will use the draw no bet market as a bit of insurance and my main selection in this game will be Bolton draw no bet. In the correct score market, I will predict a 2-1 home win.
