      Bolton vs MK Dons Predictions

Despite both teams’ struggles, they have kept faith with their managers and both deserve some credit. There have been numerous times this season when MK Dons have looked out of their depth and their recent 5-0 home defeat to Burnley was another example of that.

However unlike the likes of Charlton, they have tended to respond well to major setbacks and have won both matches since that defeat at home to Reading in the league and against Northampton in midweek in the FA Cup so Karl Robinson should certainly be commended for keeping spirits high when it would be natural for heads to drop.

Their position is still precarious though and they come into this game only 2 points outside the relegation zone but 9 points above bottom club Bolton. Wanderers will know this is a game they really need to win to pull themselves back towards the sides above them but MK Dons will also be thinking they can land a potentially terminal dagger to the heart of the troubled Lancashire club with 3 points and in doing so all but guarantee themselves of finishing above at least 1 side below them.

Bolton again made hard work of non-league Eastleigh in the FA Cup in midweek but given they’d only won twice all season prior to that, a 3-2 victory was still something to cheer and a minor boost ahead of this game.

Despite their problems, Bolton have still been fairly positive and games involving them have tended to involve plenty of goals, admittedly most at the wrong end as far as Neil Lennon’s side have been concerned. There have been 3 or more goals in 7 of their last 11 matches and 6 of the last 9 involving MK Dons. Given both teams will see this as a good opportunity for 3 points, odds of 43/40 for there to be over 2.5 goals in this one seem quite generous.

MK Dons have been very poor on the road this season but were much improved in their last away game, a 1-1 draw at Leeds and given Bolton’s dire problems both on and off the pitch, they could inflict another defeat on Neil Lennon’s men with a 2-1 win at 10/1.
