Boreham Wood vs AFC Fylde Predictions

With the National League season already reaching it’s conclusion, we quickly move into the play-off places, as teams compete to win the elusive final spot in the Football League. This season the three divisions of the National League are employing a new format and instead of being a straight up semi final and final, they have been extended to include an additional two sides. That change sees the sides who finished the regular campaign in fourth take on the side who finished in seventh.

That composition means that it is Boreham Wood who welcome AFC Fylde to Meadow Park, but unlike the regular play-off matches, this a match which will be decided over one leg. With this in mind, we think that an early goal could mean that the opposition has no option but to throw the kitchen sink at it and backing there to be over 2.5 goals scored looks to be the way to go.

The two clashes in the regular season revealed plenty about what we should expect on Thursday evening, as the initial meeting back in August saw chances at both ends as the teams played out an entertaining 2-2 draw. The return fixture was a lot more what we have come to expect from Boreham Wood and they finished the match with a 1-0 victory back in December.

Boreham may typically be a more defensive outfit than most in the division and they go into this match having kept a clean sheet in almost 40% of their league matches this term. However, their recent outings have seen a much different side to them and they have seen over 2.5 goals scored in each of their previous three matches.

Speaking of high scoring matches, there is few that will have seen more goals this season than fans of AFC Fylde. The 82 times they managed to find the back of the net this season paid dividends, as they narrowly scraped into the play-off places by virtue of having a better goal difference than the unlucky Dover.

Unfortunately for the visitors, we think that Boreham Wood should have the ability to claim the victory this Thursday evening, and with it a spot in the semi finals. With this in mind, we think that combining our initial tip of there to be over 2.5 goals scored with a home win is an excellent opportunity to increase your return, as long as you are prepared to accept the increased risk.
