Borussia Dortmund vs Schalke Predictions
Borussia Dortmund started the season emphatically before embarking on a bit of a poor streak. After winning their first nine matches in all competitions they went on a five match unbeaten streak.
But they are well and truly back to their best now, having won their last six games in all competitions and scored a huge 24 goals along the way.
This has seen them keep the gap between them and Bundesliga leaders Bayern Munich at a manageable level, with the champions just five points ahead of them after 11 games.
This is the same gap as there is between Borussia Dortmund and 3rd placed Wolfsburg, with Schalke sitting a point below them in 4th position.
But the visitors have been struggling lately. They haven’t won any of their last five games in all competitions, with two losses and three draws seeing them slip behind Wolfsburg in the table.
Before this they were in excellent form, but now is not the ideal time for them to be visiting a rampant Borussia Dortmund side.
The home side have scored 64 goals in their 20 competitive matches so far this season, averaging over three per game in all competitions and just under three per game in the Bundesliga.
Star striker Pierre-Emerick Aubemayang has netted 21 of these goals, with Marco Reus, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, and Shinji Kagawa scoring another 31 times between them.
This makes for a fearsome quartet of attacking talent, and it’s impossible to not look at the overs market for a Borussia Dortmund game.
Seven of Borussia Dortmund’s last eight games in all competitions have ended with four or more goals scored, including all of their last five matches. I’m also expecting a fairly easy win for them against a disappointing Schalke side, so odds of 5/4 for a Borussia Dortmund Win and Over 3.5 Goals are excellent value.
