Reason For Bradford vs Grimsby Town Predictions

  • Bradford have failed to win in their last 7 matches.
  • Bradford have scored in each of their last 12 home matches.
  • Grimsby have scored 2 goals or more in each of their last 3 matches.

A difficult time

After a year which saw Bradford City fall down a division, Bradford City will likely have been hoping that 2020 would have been the year that they repaired the damage and climbed back into League 1, however the early evidence is not exactly good. The hosts have started the year poorly and are falling behind their rivals in the race for automatic promotion.

Bradford City go into this weekend’s clash having failed to win any of their last seven matches in the league and even though they built much of their early season success on the back of a solid defence, things have not exactly been going to plan in  that area of late. The hosts have conceded 12 times in those same seven matches and it is here where the improvements will have to be made.

A resurgent visiting side

While Bradford City may not be liking life at the moment, this weekend’s visitors is a Grimsby Town side who have looked much better in recent weeks. The Mariners are now under the management of the popular Ian Holloway, and although he has brought plenty of attention to the club, he has also brought a much improved points return as the visitors have started to pull away from the danger zone.

The general air of positivity around the club at the moment has also been influenced by the fact that Grimsby have been much improved in front of goal. The Mariners had a large run of results where they were unable to score more than once in a match, but that run has ended and in their last three outings they have scored seven times.

There could be trouble for the hosts

While the hosts come into this match with an excellent home record, they have been poor in recent weeks and have struggled to get the results a club of their stature would expect. With plenty of goals conceded and the visitors looking like they are resurgent at the moment, backing Grimsby to either win or draw on the double chance market looks to be the way to go.

In terms of a correct score tip, we are going to go one better. The hosts have conceded 12 times in their last seven outings but they do regularly find the back of the net on home soil and average 1.53 goals per game in front of their own fans. Meanwhile, the visitors have finally found their scoring boots but are still conceding plenty. All in all, our money is going on a 2-1 away win.
