Tie could go to down to the wire with draw

Both Braga and Rapid Vienna have enjoyed impressive starts to their 2024/25 campaigns and this form could see little to separate the two clubs when they meet in Portugal on Thursday.

The Archbishops are unbeaten at home across all competitions this season however they have only taken all three points in one of these three fixtures – with Carlos Carvalhal’s side held to draws against both Servette (0-0) and Estrela (1-1).

Rapid Vienna meanwhile have won three of their opening four away matches of the campaign – including victories at both Wisla and Trabzonspor in the previous qualifying rounds – however they do not possess the greatest record against sides from Portugal, losing seven of their 10 total meetings with Porto, Benfica and Sporting.

A tight encounter could therefore be on the cards at the Estadio Municipal de Braga and it could go down to a straight shootout in Austria in the second leg. Both sides have enough quality to get on the scoresheet and so a 1-1 final score draws some appeal.
