Bray Wanderers vs Wexford Youths Predictions
Bray Wanderers need to start picking up points soon or else they face being potentially left behind in the League of Ireland Premier Division. They finished in an unspectacular mid-table position last year, but so far this year they have looked like prime relegation candidates.
They come into this match having not won in any competition since the middle of April, a run of ten games in which they have lost eight times and drawn twice. Although both of those draws did come in their last two matches, so they may be working towards a revival.
However, they still sit in the danger zone of the relegation playoff position with just nine points from their opening 16 games. This puts them just a point clear of Longford Town below them and already three points adrift of the safety of 10th place.
Wexford Youths are the team sitting just outside the danger zone, although they were always expected to struggle coming into the season after being promoted from the First Division last year.
They seem to be flitting between good and bad form in patches this season. They began the season with a four match winless streak before going unbeaten in three, and then they failed to win in six matches before mounting a resurgence and winning four games on the trot. Currently they are in one of their poor spells though, with each of their last three outings ending in defeat.
Each of their last two away matches have resulted in defeat as well, although they did come against the top two sides in the division. Prior to these two games they managed to beat Firhouse Clover in the FA Cup and Longford Town in the league, and they have also managed to get draws against Bohemians and Cork City on the road this season.
Bray Wanderers are no better at home than they are away. They are winless in four competitive home matches and have lost six of their ten home games this season. In the Premier Division they have won just two of their eight home games and lost five times.
My prediction is for the visitors to get something from this match, as they have already proved that they can take advantage of struggling sides with their win over Longford Town. Odds of 7/10 for a Wexford Youths Win or Draw Double Chance look good value too, so I’m backing that along with a 1-1 correct score prediction at 5/1.
