Both Teams To Score

Reason for tip

Brazil endured a rough World Cup qualifying campaign and head into this tournament having seen both teams score in their last five matches. Morocco are in form and have scored 11 goals in their last three games, so they can find the net against the Selecao.

Brazil 2-1

Reason for tip

Brazil may have had a rocky qualifying campaign, but they have won their last three games and should kick off this World Cup with a victory. They beat Egypt 2-1 on Saturday and conceded exactly once against Croatia in April.

Brazil vs Morocco Predictions

  • Both teams have scored in Brazil’s last five matches.
  • Ayoub El Kaabi has scored three goals in his last two appearances.

Selecao looking to go all the way

Brazil are the most successful side in World Cup history, but they have not lifted the trophy since 2002 and Carlo Ancelotti’s side head to North America as fourth-favourites following a less-than-impressive qualifying campaign.

However, after racking up three straight wins since the start of April, A Selecao should begin the tournament with a win over an admittedly solid Moroccan side.

They have conceded in each of these three victories to make it five games without a shutout, and that should give a talented Morocco enough openings to get on the scoresheet in New Jersey.

Morocco target repeat of 2022

The Atlas Lions’ Africa Cup of Nations success earlier this year may be shrouded in controversy but, even with that 3-0 awarded win over Senegal ignored, they have won 21 and drawn one of their last 27 games. They made it to the semi-finals in 2022, and anything close to that would be classed as a success this time around.

They have scored 11 goals in their last three friendlies and should find the net against this out-of-form Brazilian defence, but defeat is still expected against the five-time world champions.

El Kaabi can strike in Morocco defeat

The favourites beat Egypt 2-1 last time out and conceded once against Croatia in April. Morocco are generally solid at the back, so a narrow 2-1 scoreline could be on the cards.

Anytime goalscorer punters should consider Ayoub El Kaabi. He scored off the bench against Madagascar and notched two against Burundi, leaving him with 39 international goals in 71 appearances, with 12 of these coming in his last 19 appearances.
