Brentford vs Huddersfield Predictions
Both sides are under new management with Dean Smith taking charge of Brentford while David Wagner will be in the opposing dug-out having taken over at the Yorkshire club last month.
It has been a mixed start for the German-American. He lost his first 3 games in charge but has won 2 of the last 3 with wins away to Birmingham and at home to Rotherham in midweek giving him a return of 6 points from 6 games and the Terriers are 3 points above the relegation zone coming into this.
Dean Smith has 4 points from his 3 games as Brentford boss following a 3-2 defeat at Cardiff in midweek. The Bees have scored exactly 2 goals in all of those games and have continued to play attacking football sometimes to their own detriment.
Brentford have won 4 of their last 5 home games and had lost only once in 10 games prior to their trip to Cardiff so will come into this game with confidence still and they are fairly strong favourites to win it. Against a Huddersfield side that along with Brentford has the worst defensive record outside the bottom 4, they look good value to score 2 or more goals again here at 5/6.
Wagner is starting to make his make on Huddersfield though and they do possess a threat going forward so an away goal is also a distinct possibility given both teams have scored in 5 of Brentford’s last 6 matches.
Brentford have a little more quality, particularly in midfield though so a 2-1 home win might be the way to go in the ‘correct score’ market and that can be backed at 15/2.
