Brighton vs Derby County Betting Tips & Predictions

Both sides are in great form particularly Brighton who are unbeaten in 12 matches and have won all of their last 5 to really turn up the heat on Burnley and Middlesbrough, who they face in a crunch automatic promotion decider on the final day next weekend. The secret of their recent success has really been their ability to score goals and lots of them. They’ve netted twice or more in all of their last 7 matches and their last two home games have resulted in crushing 4-0 and 5-0 wins against QPR and Fulham. They had to work a bit harder at Charlton last weekend but a 3-1 win sealed by a late penalty ensured they moved level on points with Boro, who dropped points.

Derby aren’t in the running for automatic promotion which was their aim this season but they will have a real shout in the play-offs on current form. They’ve won 4 of their last 5 games which includes a big 4-0 win over Hull, the side they are set to face in the play-offs. Like Brighton they’ve also been scoring plenty of goals and have netted 13 in their last 5 matches and their slightly tweaked style from the days of Paul Clement certainly seems to be working.

Therefore with two teams scoring plenty of goals we should see a few here. There have been over 2.5 goals in all of Brighton’s last 7 matches and in 4 of Derby’s last 6. The Rams don’t have much to play for but are looking to build some fluency ahead of the play-off games so they will be in no mood to just sit back and try and restrict Brighton like a few other sides have tried and generally failed in recent weeks. Therefore backing there to be over 2.5 goals at 10/11 looks to offer real value in this match which has the potential to be a real thriller in front of a big crowd on the South Coast.
