Brisbane Roar vs Adelaide United Predictions

Brisbane Roar’s 4-0 thrashing by Melbourne Victory last Friday brought them back down to earth. They had enjoyed a five match unbeaten streak where they had won four times, a record which had lifted them to the top of the Hyundai A-League.

Thankfully for Brisbane Roar 2nd placed Western Sydney Wanderers also lost at the weekend, meaning their one point cushion at the top of the table remains in tact.

However, this mauling at the hands of the out of form A-League champions Melbourne Victory will have dented some egos in the Brisbane Roar dressing room, and they are coming into what could be a very difficult match up.

Adelaide United started the season terribly. They failed to win any of their first eight A-League matches and found themselves on the wrong end of defeat five times.

They finally broke their curse against Perth Glory, and since then they haven’t lost a match. Five of their last seven matches in the league have seen Adelaide United pick up maximum points, with goalless draws at Newcastle Jets and Western Sydney Wanderers slightly marring their record.

This incredible resurgence has seen Adelaide United rise up to 6th in the Hyundai A-League table. They are four points clear of 7th placed Wellington Phoenix and only eight points adrift of the top spot in the league.

But it won’t be easy for the visitors to continue their run on Friday. Brisbane Roar may have lost on Friday, but they have won six and drawn one of their seven home matches so far this season, coring 14 and conceding five.

Five of Brisbane Roar’s last seven matches have ended with three or more goals as well, giving an indication as to their attacking philosophy. Similarly placed statistically are Adelaide United, who have seen more than two goals scored in four of their last seven outings.

This makes odds of 8/11 for Over 2.5 Goals look good value to me, and I’m also going to go for a 2-2 draw at 11/1.
